An American model and television personality recently interviewed on a podcast. During the podcast, the well-known internet celebrity says that she had an entire conversation with her son, Sebastian, regarding her previous work as a dancer. [i]
Amber Rose discusses parenting and raising two sons
Amber Rose spoke recently with Emily Ratajkowski on a podcast known as High Low with EmRata. Ratajkowski is a self-identified feminist. She is also an advocate for women’s health issues. The pair spent nearly an hour discussing topics ranging from how she’s chosen to raise her son to her opinion on the risks involved with women coming forward to “tell their truths.” [ii]
Amber Rose shared that she has experienced quite her share of daredevil acts as she parents two boys, one of whom she says “Wrote in pen all over the walls in my room.” Rose says she absolutely is not having any more children. She says, “You can’t have anything nice with boys.” Rose shares that from as early as she can remember, she has been candid with her boys about women and how they should respect them. [iii]
What are Amber Rose's plans for the future?
Rose, who is planning to launch a new podcast focused on current events and dissecting the obstacles faced by men, says that women already face enough barriers daily. Rose says she plans to interview men to get their perspectives on understanding why women receive so much disrespect for sharing their truths. She says,
You look at Khloe Kardashian. She was abused by getting cheated on while pregnant, and then the internet goes in on her as if it’s her fault. No one woman feels like they can come out and say, “Hey, I’ve been abused. I’ve been emotionally abused. I’ve been psychologically abused–maybe even physically abused. [iv]
She continued emphatically, stating,
Look what they did to Meg the Stallion. You know, it’s like you can’t tell your story, you’re a clout chaser, or you want attention. It’s like, why are you saying it now? It’s like, I’m saying it because I feel I’m strong enough to say it now. [v]
How Amber Rose's shared videos become a family discussion topic?
Rose continued by sharing how she has raised her son Sebastian to be a “feminist.” She shares that when one of his friends was riding in the car with them and made a comment about not wanting a woman who had been on the pay site OF, her son Sebastian instantly stood up to the friend, saying,
Bro, you can’t say that. You have to let a woman do what she wants with her body. That’s not cool. [vi]
Rose says that witnessing this interaction made her incredibly proud. She says she has instilled this thought pattern in her son since birth. Rose also shares about being extremely open about her body with her son since birth. She says that he understands much more about women than many others. She further shared that someone had told her son at school that his mother was on OF, which Rose says she’s certain came from a parent. [vii]
Rose says she then had an entire conversation with her son about her being on OF. She says that she explained to him,
When it comes to women, you have to let women do what they need to do to support their families. You want to go to a nice school and travel? He knows that I was a[n ecdysiast] years ago. I feel like I desensitized [him]. Instead of him finding out when he’s 20. [viii]
What does Amber Rose hope others will take notice of?
Rose says that “in the grand scheme of things,” her son won’t “hate her” just because she used to be an ecdysiast. Although the model believes that fans initially saw her as a “novelty,” Rose plans to continue teaching her children that women should have the opportunity to choose what to do with their bodies. For example, she compares women winning Oscars for love scenes but women being frowned upon on Instagram for “twerking.” [ix]
Rose’s sentiments parallel those of a midwest mother of six who began her OF account making about $200 to $300 a month but now has garnered 80,000 subscribers at a monthly charge of $12.99. [x]
