Visit Lee’s Lunch Wagon if You’re Looking for Good Breakfast Comfort Food

When I worked in the downtown Honolulu area for several years, I used to eat at lunch wagons almost every day. I rarely eat at lunch wagons anymore. However, I was in the Costco area in Waipio early Saturday morning; I noticed a food truck, Lee’s Breakfast Lunch Wagon.

I had never tried their food truck, so I picked up a scrambled egg plate with link sausage and a Diet Pepsi. For $11, they gave a large portion of rice, one scrambled egg, and six link sausages. The amount of rice was so large I took the rest home and made fried rice with the part I didn’t eat for breakfast.

For the price of the plate and the amount of food, it was a good deal. I also liked their location. It was easy to access, with plenty of parking at Costco or street parking.

With the many lunch wagons around the islands, Lee’s Breakfast Lunch Wagon serves breakfast and lunch comfort foods.

They’re open from 6:00 am - 10:00 am, Monday - Saturday, and closed on Sunday. I checked online, and they had other lunch wagons around the island. I also found their Instagram account. Here are their other locations:

  • Campbell Industrial Park
  • Waipio - next to Costco

Conclusion

The owners of lunch wagons always serve good comfort foods. Lee's Lunch Wagon was the same also. Their Instagram account says they've been serving the island since 1997. The next time I'm in the area, I'll need to try their steak and eggs on rice. Try something from their menu if you're in the area from early morning to mid-morning.

In Search of a Good Cheeseburger

Eateries and the Best of Country Living

Huli Huli Chicken at Happy Eats

Zippy's to Open on the 9th Island

I received an update on Zippy's news in my email, and it was good to see Zippy's Restaurant in Las Vegas will be open for business on October 10, 2023. After many years of delay due to the pandemic, I was happy they pushed forward with their restaurant in Las Vegas. The population of Kauai as of July 2022 is 73,810, compared with Oahu's population of 995,638 as of July 2022. I've lived on Oahu for many years and only moved back to Kauai because of my job transfer for the time being. I've seen pockets of traffic during certain times of the day. I was returning from Lihue to home on the west side when I was stuck in 17-minute bumper-to-bumper traffic at about 5:00 pm - 5:17 pm from Puhi in front of Kauai Community College to the Humane Society.

Anyone for Prime Rib at the Airport

I usually don’t pay attention or remember the name of the restaurant I go to at the airport, but on my way to Kauai, I ate at Lahaina Chicken Company. I knew what I wanted because the prime rib looked delicious. I found food at airport restaurants to be okay, but I had to admit, the prime rib was tasty. I noticed the prices were a little more costly than other restaurants not at the airport.

My Next Stop Is No. 1

I was born and raised on Garden Island but spent 36 years on Oahu. I still own a place on Oahu. Since my work took me here for the time being, I took the time to eat at a restaurant I’ve eaten at many times. This restaurant is a good place because of the food and convenience.
