Tropical Storm Ian: What’s open in Clay County

Some stores in Clay County remain closed or with modified hours as Tropical Storm Ian moves over the Atlantic Ocean.

Orange Park Mall remains closed Thursday, Sept. 29. Select retailers and restaurants may remain open so mall officials suggest you contact them directly before visiting.

Some Publix stores remain on modified hours. To check on your local store, a map on the Publix website will show if the store is open. To access the map, click here.

The Walmart Neighborhood Market at 2570 County Road 220 in Middleburg is closed on Thursday, according to the Walmart website map. To check on your local Walmart, click on the website map here.

These Winn-Dixie stores in Clay County are closed on Thursday: Fleming Island at 1545 County Road 220 in Fleming Island; 1339 Blanding Boulevard in Orange Park; 3260 Highway 17 in Green Cove Springs; 2851 Henley Road in Green Cove Springs; 2720 Blanding Blvd. in Middleburg; 3260 Highway 17 in Green Cove Springs.

All Clay County District Schools will remain closed through Friday, Superintendent David Broskie said. Five of the district's buildings are being used as storm shelters — Orange Park High School, Keystone Heights High School, Clay High School, Wilkinson Elementary School and Lake Asbury Junior High, which is being used as a shelter for special needs residents.

County government offices will remain closed Thursday and Friday, pending storm impacts.

Garbage Collection - Curbside collection will not occur Thursday and Friday, and Waste Management will begin normal routes on Monday.

The Fleming Island Saturday Market at the Village Square Shopping Center has been canceled. The next event will be held Nov. 5.

The 21st Annual Green Cove Springs Soul Food Music Festival scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 1, was postponed to Nov. 5, according to the festival’s Facebook page. The event includes the Soul Food Parade at noon that runs along Palmetto Avenue and west on Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard. The festival will be at Vera Francis Hall Park at 1503 Martin Luther King Blvd. in Green Cove Springs.

St. Johns River State College will be closed through Sunday, Oct. 2.

All events at the Thrasher-Horne Center are canceled.

Performances of The Great American Trailer Park Musical by the Florida School of the Arts have been canceled for Thursday, Sept. 29 and Friday, Sept. 30.
