In this video we take a quick little hike down to Crabtree Falls just along the Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina. This is an awesome little hike, although it is still a bit on the strenuous side. Make sure you save some energy for the way back up as the initial out and back is ALL down hill.

Hey all, long time no adventure video. Sorry for the delay, but we have had some personal things to deal with so that is why we have been a bit MIA. Thanks again for all of you who reached out, it definitely means a lot.

Deanna and I don't really have a mission to hit up all the high points in the state, but after this last little mini vacation we are off to a good start making that happen. Have you all hiked up to the top of Mt Rogers and were you able to see wild ponies!? That was so cool! Have an amazing day!

Stone Mountain State Park is the coolest state park we have been to yet in the state of North Carolina! We love both Hanging Rock State Park and Pilot Mountain State Park, but the views at Stone Mountain State Park just kind of blow those away. Maybe it is because Stone Mountain State Park is just farther west towards larger mountains and the fact that this awesomely unique rock face just sticks out like a beautiful piece of art. However we figure it, this is a MUST see if you are ever in the area or just passing through!

Bassett, VA

In this video we take you to Philpott Park in Virginia which is just northwest of Bassett, VA. When we got here and started hiking a small trail, we thought we were going to have a very short misadventure, but we made the best of it on a fun little fit trail. Not only do you get out in nature, but you can actually have a fun little workout along the way as well!

Ever since we explored Hanging Rock State Park in North Carolina, we wanted to be able to see Pilot Mountain State Park from within Hanging Rock State Park. Turns out the best trail to do that is Moore's Wall Loop Trail along the western portion of the state park. It is a bit of a strenuous hike (4.7 miles and roughly 900ft of elevation gain), but honestly not as bad as I thought it would be after taking a 2 month hiking hiatus. Totally worth it my friends.

In this adventure we head to Mabry Mill which is located along the Blue Ridge Parkway in Southwest Virginia. This is an amazing area if you have never been here to explore before! We learned a lot about the local area and how this place used to thrive!

In this video we finally get back out to stretch our legs at Black Ridge Trail at Rocky Knob Recreation Area, Virginia. This beautiful part of the National Park Service is right along the Blue Ridge Parkway in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. There are epic views all around and whichever month of the year you plan on hiking here, there will be something fun to do.

Howdy fellow adventurers! In this video we took a drive to the state of North Carolina so we could check out this amazing place called Pilot Mountain State Park! Whether you hike up from the bottom parking lot or drive on up to the top, there are plenty of beautiful views to be soaked in along these trails. During this adventure in 2020 we headed out to Clifty Falls State Park for the first time, to find ourselves some waterfalls! Turns out there is quite a bit to do here including exploring a really neat tunnel you can hike all the way through! Make sure you put on some sturdy hiking boots though as these trails can be fairly rugged in sections!

Many of you have probably been to Hanging Rock State Park during the Spring, Summer, and early Fall. BUT, have you ever been to Hanging Rock State Park after all the leaves have fallen down? If not, here is a small preview of what you might see! Epic views spanning in new directions and viewpoints are no longer constrained to a couple portions of the park! We highly recommend checking out Hanging Rock State Park this time of year!

Tennessee State

Our very first hike at Great Smoky Mountains National Park in 2021 was to Grotto Falls! This 2.8 mile out and back hike is a steady incline most of the way, but not too steep so it was pretty easy to just set a pace and stick to it. Grotto Falls isn't the largest or most popular falls at Great Smoky Mountains National Park, but the sweet thing about these falls is that you can hike behind them! It makes for some fun photos and if you want a dose of some really cold water, you have plenty of opportunities to get wet! #HolidayJoy

Kayaking Philpott Lake in Virginia was the perfect medicine to get out and relax. Getting back into nature is really our personal best way to destress and recharge. Philpott Lake offers 2,900 acres of water to explore and plenty of recreation areas that offer camping and places to launch your boats.

Smart View Recreation Area in Virginia along the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains!

Smart View Recreation Area has a pretty small trail loop to hike on, but it totally makes up for the shorter trails with the epic views just off the Blue Ridge Mountains!

Hard to tell how smart it truly is, but if you want some sweet views with a heck of a lot less people than Rocky Knob Recreation area down the road, give this area a whirl for sure.

What an awesome adventure at Shenandoah National Park! Bear Den Mountain Trail was definitely worth the short relatively easy hike up the mountain for those amazing views. Taking a different way back turned out to be a great decision as well. Sometimes you just don't know until you try!

Howdy folks! Here is another adventure at Minnewaska State Park, been about 4 years since the last time we went hiking through here! Having the old pup along with us, we decided to take a relatively easy trail around the lake itself. The views are absolutely beautiful every which way you look and this state park has never disappointed us. What is your favorite trail at Minnewaska State Park?

Alum Cave Trail is now our new favorite hiking trail in Great Smoky Mountains National Park! Although parking around the area was incredibly packed, the trail is large enough that we all spread out fairly evening along the trail. The trailhead also shares some parking with the Rainbow Falls area so many people were parking near this trailhead to go hike to Rainbow Falls instead as well. So make sure you get there early if you want to find some decent parking!

On this adventure we hike back to Buffalo Mountain which is located just south of Floyd, VA near the Blue Ridge Parkway in the Blue Ridge Mountains. The parking lot to this place is pretty small, so make sure you head over in the morning if you want to check it out. There were some folks parked down at the base of the narrow gravel road leading up to the parking lot, but I imagine they were mostly waiting for people to leave to go take their parking spots. Definitely worth the jaunt up the mountain! Epic views in all directions!

If you want to check out a state park in Virginia that isn't heavily crowded and still has some fantastic views, Fairy Stone State Park might be on the list for you. There is an entry fee of $7 per vehicle, but as long as you get plenty of hiking in and plan on staying a good part of the day there, I think it is totally worth it.
