You can legally buy CBD in Dallas without the doctor’s prescription, but the CBD must be obtained from industrial hemp consisting of no more than 0.3% of THC. High CBD cannabis products are, however only accessible to patients with doctor’s prescriptions qualifying the medical conditions.

The state of Texas also does not impose any limits on possessions or age restrictions for legal CBD in the state.

The Back-story

On a Federal level, the 2018 Farm Bill signed into law the use of industrial hemp and its derivatives, as long as the THC content does not exceed 0.3% on a dry weight basis. On a state level, Governor Greg Abbott signed into law HB 1325 in 2019. This law allows local farmers in the state to cultivate industrial hemp. It also allows the production and sale of CBD products as long as they don’t have more than 0.3% THC.

If you don’t know it already, CBD (cannabidiol) is one of the compounds found in the marijuana plant. It won’t get you stoned but would provide a wide range of beneficial effects, such as alleviating pain and dealing with anxiety.

Here are five places in Dallas to get the best CBD.

The Zebra’s Head (113 Fry Street, Denton)

The Zebra’s Head shop on the campus of the University of North Texas is one of the best CBD shops. If needed, store manager Tyson Wright will provide data on lab results, side effects, and strain recommendations of CBD. The store sources a majority of its CBD flowers from Oregon and Nevada. The CBD sourced from these states is grown by professionals who know what they are doing.

The Glass House TX (413 E, Round Grove Road, Lewisville)

Their shops are located in a few locations spread out in Dallas and Denton County. Owner Sean Yuen confirms that he gets the CBD flower from Oregon and California. He also confirmed that he visited the farms firsthand to evaluate their cannabis production process. According to him, farmers grow multiple strains of CBD with different qualities.

He ensures that only the best quality CBD is sourced for the Glass House. He says that a majority of farmers growing cannabis are old-school who prefer to live completely disconnected from the modern world and devote themselves to the cultivation.

Royal Hemps Pipes and Cultural Necessities (2007 W.Davis Street, Dallas)

This well-known shop has an interesting ambiance with a Rastafarian and African color palette decorating the façade. Judah, the owner of Royal Hemps, clarified that the CBD flowers they get are sourced from Empire Wellness. It is a company in Colorado that is well-known for its quality products.

It wholesales hemp products made from pure natural ingredients without the use of steroids or pesticides. He enlisted the “Grape Juice” and “Lemon Drop” as their most popular strains. Both of these are harvested and dried naturally before processing, trimming, and sorting them.

Hashtag Hemp Co. (208, S. Madison Avenue, Dallas)

Located in the Bishop Arts District, it is probably the only seed-to-sale company in Dallas. Owner Marcus McCarty said, “I don’t have anything in the store that I haven’t had grown for us.” All products can be traced back to the day they were cultivated to the day they found their place in the shop. He confirms that their joints only consist of A-grade CBD. They get their joints from Silky Trees CBD, a hemp company in Oregon that manufactures and distributes industrial-grade hemp products.

The Pharm Haus (525 W. Arapaho Road, Richardson)

Kirk Edmondson, the owner of Pharm Haus, has some of the strongest strains in the market. They purchase the flower from Oregon and Pennsylvania and transforms it into various branded CBD products such as tinctures, lotions, and oils.
