Recall Alert: Costco Mattress Mold Risk

Dicle Belul

Attention Costco mattress customers! If you have purchased a mattress from Costco since the beginning of 2023, it is crucial that you check your bed as soon as possible. Approximately 48,000 mattresses sold exclusively at Costco are being recalled by the manufacturer due to potential mold contamination.

Costco has taken the initiative to issue voluntary recall notices to their customers for two mattress models: Novaform ComfortGrande 14-inch and Novaform DreamAway 8-inch. The reason behind the recall is the possibility of these mattresses being exposed to water during the manufacturing process, which could have resulted in mold growth after being packaged for shipment. Individuals with compromised immune systems damaged lungs, or mold allergies are particularly susceptible to health risks associated with mold exposure.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has reported 541 cases of mold on these mattresses, but fortunately, no injuries have been reported thus far.

The affected mattresses were manufactured at FXI's facility in San Bernardino, California, between January 2nd and April 30th of this year. They were subsequently sold in the Northwest United States, the San Francisco Bay area, and through Costco's website.

Ensure your safety and well-being by checking your mattress today if you fall under this recall. If you have purchased one of the affected mattress models, it is important to take immediate action to ensure your safety. First, carefully inspect your mattress for any signs of mold growth. Look for visible spores, discoloration, or a musty odor. If you notice any of these indications, it is crucial to stop using the mattress and contact the manufacturer or Costco for further instructions.

In addition to checking your mattress, it is advisable to consult a healthcare professional if you have any underlying health conditions that may make you more vulnerable to mold-related health issues. They can provide guidance and recommend any necessary precautions to protect your well-being. It is worth noting that while no injuries have been reported thus far, it is always better to err on the side of caution when it comes to potential health hazards.

Costco and the mattress manufacturer are committed to resolving this issue promptly and ensuring customer satisfaction. They are working closely with the CPSC to coordinate the recall efforts and provide support to affected customers. By taking action now and following the necessary steps, you can help ensure your safety and contribute to preventing any potential health risks associated with mold exposure.

Parents Unhappy with Disney's NYC Christmas Village

Disney's The Santa Clauses' Winter Wonderland on the rooftop of Pier 17 is receiving negative feedback from local parents. Many have taken to social media to complain about various aspects of the attraction. One issue is the size of the ice rink, which parents describe as "tiny." Some parents have also expressed disappointment with the appearance of Santa, claiming he is too skinny and doesn't fill out the red suit. The most concerning complaint is regarding a slide that reportedly caused injury to a child. The slide was subsequently shut down by security, and an ambulance was called. Parents also noted the absence of any Disney presence inside the attraction, despite it being advertised as a Disney event. There were no Disney characters or trademarks to be found. Another complaint relates to the size of the skating area, which some parents felt was too small. Overall, parents are frustrated and disappointed with their experiences, citing it as a waste of money. In response to the negative feedback surrounding Disney's The Santa Clauses' Winter Wonderland on the rooftop of Pier 17, it is crucial for the organizers to address these concerns and take proactive steps to rectify the issues. Firstly, the size of the ice rink should be expanded to accommodate a larger number of skaters and provide a more enjoyable experience for families. This can help alleviate the dissatisfaction expressed by parents regarding the current size being described as "tiny." Additionally, steps should be taken to ensure the safety of all attendees, especially young children. The incident involving the slide and injury to a child is deeply concerning and should prompt a comprehensive review of all equipment in the attraction to prevent further accidents. Immediate action to address this issue and provide reassurance to parents is crucial for rebuilding trust in the event.
