Easy Cabbage Pie

As you can read below, this recipe, which is very easy to make, can be an indispensable alternative. Ingredients :

For the filling:

  • 3 tablespoons Avocado oil or olive oil
  • 1 large Onion, chopped
  • 1 Large carrot, grated
  • 1 Bell pepper, diced
  • 1/2 head Cabbage (500g), thinly sliced
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Other spices of your choice

For the dough:

  • 4-5 tablespoons Mayonnaise -feel free to use regular
  • 1 teaspoon coconut Sugar or regular
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 10g Baking powder
  • 2/3 cup (84g) Flour
  • 3 Eggs replacer - feel free to use regular

For topping:

  • White sesame seeds/black sesame seeds/ hemp seed

  1. Preheat oven to 190C (375F). Line a parchment paper on the bottom of a 23cm (9-inch) round baking pan. Set aside.
  2. if you are replacer for eggs, Prep egg replacer for 3 eggs and set a side
  3. Make the filling: in a large skillet, heat oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and sauté until lightly golden, about 6-7 minutes. Add grated carrot, and diced bell pepper and cook, stirring frequently, for about 5-7 minutes. Add sliced cabbage and cook for 10-12 minutes.
  4. Turn the heat off and set it aside.
  5. In a bowl mix mayonnaise, sugar, salt, baking powder and 3 tablespoons of flour. Mix until smooth. Add eggs and mix until combined and smooth. Add the rest of the flour and mix until smooth and a bit thick
  6. Pour half of the batter to the bottom of the baking pan and spread evenly. Then, spread the filling over the batter, then pour the rest of the batter on top of the filling and spread evenly.
  7. Sprinkle some white sesame seeds/black sesame seeds/nigella seeds (optional).
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown on top.
  9. Allow to cool for at least 20-30 minutes, then release from the pan and serve.
