'Survivor' Welcomes Two Massachusetts Natives To The Competition

(MASSACHUSETTS) CBS has revealed the cast of the upcoming 45th season of Survivor, and among the cast are two Massachusetts natives, Jake O'Kane and Kendra McQuarrie.

Jake O'Kane, who is originally from Hanson, Massachusetts, is currently living in Boston and working as an attorney. According to an interview with Entertainment Weekly (EW), he is a lover of theater, Dungeons and Dragons, and working out. O'Kane has stated that he sees Survivor as a celebration of his accomplishments in life, having graduated from law school while working two jobs and having lost 80 pounds in the process. When EW asked what his biggest inspiration is, his answer was a little closer to home when he said “Honest answer: My mom — without her support and her teaching me my work ethic, I wouldn't be where I am today.”

Kendra McQuarrie, from Haverhill, Massachusetts, is now a resident of Steamboat Springs, Colorado. She has stated that her solo trek of the Camino Primitivo in Spain prepared her well for the game. "Walking alone over 15 miles in a day in a new country with nothing but my backpack showed me how determined and resourceful I am," she said in her introduction interview with EW.

Survivor's 45th season will premiere on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at 8/7c on CBS and Paramount+. O'Kane and McQuarrie are both sure to bring their own unique skills and experiences to the competition.

Entertainment Weekly had a first exclusive interview with the cast, which is where the information in this article is from. Fortunately, I had the opportunity to speak with Jake O'Kane, and I will be publishing an article next week before the season premiere on September 27, 2023.
