Get Ready For The Onset Harvest Moon Festival: Food Trucks, Carved Pumpkin Contest, & More!

(ONSET, MA) As summer comes to an end, residents of Onset are eagerly anticipating the upcoming Harvest Moon Festival set to take place on Saturday, September 23, 2023 (rain date 9/24). The festival, which runs from 10 am to 8 pm, features activities for every member of the family, from a car show and food trucks to children's activities and live music!

Family-Friendly Fun

For families with kids, there will be face painting with Creative Faces by Oplaysis Designs and balloon art with Circus Dynamics. Jay the Stilt Walker from Stewart Family Entertainment will also be entertaining folks of all ages with his impressive height and skill.

One of the highlights of the event is the Carved Pumpkin Contest, where participants can bring their pre-carved pumpkins to the Bandshell for people's choice voting. The winner will receive a cash prize of $100. In addition to the pumpkin contest, the festival will also feature live music all day long, with performances by local bands. Foodies will be delighted by the variety of food trucks and vendors selling savory foods and sweet treats. Car fanatics should plan time to check out the Antique/Classic Car Show presented by The Rusty Nuts Car Club of Wareham. As the day winds down, festival-goers can look forward to a spectacular fireworks display at 7:45 pm, which will take place from Shell Point.

Street Closures

According to the website created for the festival by Onset Bay,

"FYI, we will be closing Onset Ave from the Bayside Condos, 185 Onset Ave., to South Blvd and Union Ave and up to C.W. Bishop/Temple Parking Lot the morning of the Festival (around 10 am) to accommodate the classic car show. South Blvd (the one way coming out next to Marc Anthony's) will remain open until 5'ish p.m. with left turns only back out onto Onset Ave." - Event Details

The event details continue, explaining:

"10th Street along the tennis courts will be open all day. Main Ave. will remain open. Stonebridge will remain open, but you will be detoured to the right down East Blvd. After 6 p.m. Onset Ave from Chuck's Auto will be closed to the Condos at 185 Onset Ave." - Event Details

Where To Park

Free street parking will be available, but space is limited. Onset Bay warns event attendees to "please, be mindful of Residential/Permitted areas! You will get a ticket".

"Temple Lot on Union Ave; Hynes Field, next to Chuck's Auto (281 Onset Ave); Lopes Field (behind the playground at 248 Onset Ave)"

There will be free parking and a shuttle from the Water Wizz parking lot at 3031 Cranberry Highway, East Wareham. The free shuttle is being provided by GATRA and the Town of Wareham. Handicap parking will be made available on the Pier and by the Bandshell, first come first served. After 5 p.m., The Pier will be all HP.
