(PLYMOUTH, MASSACHUSETTS) Back in June of 2022, the Plymouth Police Department shared a photo that went viral. The picture, taken from the inside of the local Marylou's Coffee, shows Tobias the horse, who is a member of the 'Mounted Unit', grabbing a quick look at his coffee. The caption read:

"Tobias ordered his ice coffee with extra sugar! The Marylou’s employees asked him back for lunch. Tobias loves ham, cheese, and mayo neighs!"

A Beloved Community Member

The Plymouth Police Department announced on Sunday, March 19, 2023, that Tobias, the beloved coffee-drinking horse, is retiring this week. Tobias and Officer LaPollo could often be spotted patrolling downtown Plymouth and the waterfront areas, but now time for Tobias to rest and enjoy his retirement instead of keeping the community of Plymouth safe.

A Chance To Say Goodbye

During his last patrol on Tuesday, March 28, 2023, the Plymouth Police Department announced that the public would be able to find Tobias “at the area between the rock and the Mayflower for final demonstrations, and pictures”, giving the community a chance to say goodbye. The announcement also stated that Tobias has already found a great retirement property with apple and hay restaurants nearby, so he will be well taken care of in his golden years.
