Can’t think of what to get this holiday season? This year, why not give yourself or that special person in your life the best gift possible? Adopt a cat or dog from the Santa Fe Animal Shelter.
Adoption fees are being waived at adoption events and at the shelter through December 20th. Certain restrictions apply (see below). Puppies and kittens under six months old are $25. There is a $10 license fee for Santa Fe residents.
Come join the Share the Love Adoption Event at the Subaru dealership at 7511 Cerrillos Road from 12:00 - 4:00pm this Friday and Saturday, December 10th and 11th, to meet some of the shelter’s most adoptable pets.
There will be giveaways with every adoption, a special appearance by Santa Claus, and the opportunity to get you and your pet’s photo with Santa.
Subaru of Santa Fe will also donate $250 for each car sold in the month of December as part of the Share the Love event.
On Saturday, December 18th, from 12:00 - 3:00pm, Daisy’s Holistic Health at 4056 Cerrillos Road, D-1, will hold an adoption event to help even more animals find their furever home.
If you are looking for a pet, please mark your calendars.
The Santa Fe Animal Shelter is northern New Mexico’s largest open-admission, no-kill shelter. Since 1939, the nonprofit has taken in stray and abandoned dogs, cats, rabbits and other animals and found them loving homes.
The 100-acre campus is complete with an animal hospital and boarding facilities for the rescued animals while they await adoption. Walking trails and play yards are provided for shelter dogs, and single and multi-use public dog parks are provided for area residents.
The public is welcome to visit the main facilities at 100 Caja del Rio Road from 11am - 5:30pm each day to meet more adoptable animals. Please call (505) 983-4309, ext. 1610 to make an appointment. Masks must be worn indoors.
For more information about the shelter’s adoption events, contact Murad at the Santa Fe Animal Shelter. Phone: (505) 983-4309, ext. 1139 or email mkirdar@sfhumanesociety.org

Please note: Petsmart cat adoptions do not qualify. Potential adopters are required to complete an adoption survey and counseling. No appointment needed. Adopters must register the animal’s microchip before the adoption is complete, and a Bissell Pet Form must be filled out clearly and submitted with an email address. The adoption fees are being sponsored by the Bissell Pet Foundation.
