In WalletHub's latest analysis of Virginia's top cities for families, Leesburg comes out on top. With an astounding total score of 68.60, which was based on four categories—family life and fun, education, health and safety, and affordability—Leesburg took first place.

Founded in 1740, this jewel of Loudoun County has grown from a sleepy rural enclave to a bustling suburban city, fusing historical significance with ever-changing demographics and a thriving sports culture.

Study

WalletHub conducted a study to identify the best cities in Virginia for families to settle down. The evaluation included 83 cities across four main categories: Family Life & Fun, Education, Health & Safety, Affordability, and Socioeconomics.

Using 21 metrics graded on a 100-point scale, with higher scores indicating more favorable conditions for family life, WalletHub calculated a weighted average for each city to determine its overall score and rank in comparison to others. The study focused solely on the city proper, excluding surrounding metro areas.

According to WalletHub research, Leesburg is the best place in Virginia to live for families, with an amazing overall score of 68.60.

This outstanding ranking is due to its outstanding performance in a variety of categories: Second in the category of 'Family Life & Fun,' 24th in the category of 'Education, Health & Safety,' 17th in the category of 'Affordability,' and 11th in the category of 'Socioeconomics.'

About Leesburg, VA

Located in Loudoun County, Leesburg, Virginia, was founded in 1740 and was given its name in honor of the well-known Lee family.

Situated 33 miles from Washington, D.C., it saw strategic changes in the Civil War and acted as a safe haven for federal documents during the War of 1812. With 48,250 residents in 2020, it had grown from a small rural community to a suburban center due to development along State Route 7 and the Dulles Greenway.
