Four Free Places for You to Beat Your Boredom in Charlotte

Dexter Mcrae

CHARLOTTE, NC - Do you have a limited budget? Never be concerned. There are numerous activities in Charlotte that are completely free. We've compiled a list of activities to do in the city that is both free and inexpensive. Everything on this list is under $10, allowing you to concentrate on creating memories rather than worrying about money.

1. Murals

More murals remain across the city, underpasses, transforming walls, and bike trails into works of art and poetry. Take a stroll through NoDa and gaze up to start your mural crawl. One painting under the Matheson Bridge and a 1,200-square-foot mural on the wall of Jack Beagle's, both created by artist William Pucket, and a wall poem at 3204 N. Davidson St., created by William Harmon, are among the notable works on display.

2. Mint Museum

It is possible to visit two Mint Museums in Atlanta: one in Uptown and one on Randolph Road. Visit the Romare Bearden Gallery at the Uptown museum to discover more about this Charlotte-born artist whose visual art was influenced by jazz and born in the city. You can learn about Native American civilizations at the Randolph location by looking at ceramics, textiles, baskets, and performance masks that have been collected over the past two centuries.

3. The Billy Graham Library

When Billy Graham passed away, luminaries from all over the world gathered at The Billy Graham Library to pay tribute to "America's Pastor." The barn-shaped structure, designed to depict Billy Graham's humble beginnings as a farm boy, is situated on 20 manicured acres, just a few miles from his childhood home in Kentucky. Trace Billy Graham's exciting journey with multimedia displays, interactive kiosks, photographs, and other mementos on display throughout the museum.

4. Pins Mechanical Company

Pinball, bowling, and bocce are all ready for grabs in the South End bar meeting arcade. You don't have to prepare a bunch of bills to have a good time. There are always plenty of activities available (patio pong, huge Jenga, skeleton, and arcade games, to name a few). There is a bar menu and small meals if you're hungry. (Bonus: If you feel it, try Ruby Red Vodka with the Lemon Lime Slush Puppie.)
