NASHVILLE, TN - Nashville's art museum and botanical garden, Cheekwood, in partnership with Vanderbilt Health, has announced the schedule for Wellness 360, adult wellness and rejuvenation program for senior communities in Nashville. Wellness 360 offers series of weekly events consisting of yoga classes, pilates sessions, and talk shows about meditation and mindfulness. Wellness 360 is held from July to October, taking place in several areas in Cheekwood.
Wellness 360 program consists of Wellness Wednesdays, Therapeutic Thursdays, Slow it Down Sundays, and Wellness Workshops and Talks.
On Wellness Wednesdays, participants will engage in nature through Shinrin-yoku, the Japanese practice of forest bathing. Through guidance from Forest Therapy Nashville, participants will explore Cheekwood's green spaces and forest while 'bathing' around the environment. Several advantages of forest bathing practice are improving physical health, reducing stress, and developing a strong immune system. There are also several Tai Chi and intermediate yoga classes available to participate in.
On Therapeutic Thursdays, participants will be guided by instructors from Triluna Wellness in the Vinyasa flow yoga and restorative yoga classes. Vinyasa flow yoga enables participants to increase their flexibility, build strength, and build good posture through a mix of steady-paced and linked movements. Restorative yoga offers slow-paced movements with each pose held for a longer duration. Several benefits from restorative yoga are including restore joints flexibility and reduce stress levels.
Slow it Down Sundays involve a series of mindfulness and sound bath meditation practices to help participants in relaxing the mind, body, and soul. Participants will learn how to practice breathwork for relaxation, conduct focused meditations, and improve focus levels. Participants can also learn how to meditate by listening to natural sounds and chants, guided by The Yogi Bassist, Jo-Jo Jackson.
Participants can join in wellness workshops and talks about several yoga movements, the benefits of herbs towards health, and steps to build a healthy eating habit.
