NASHVILLE, TN - Nashville SC fans will have the opportunity to make their All-Star defender, Walker Zimmerman to be the 2021 MLS All-Star team captain. Zimmerman is one of the four eligible candidates for the captain, along with LAFC forward Carlos Vela, LA Galaxy forward Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez, and Seattle Sounders defender Cristian Roldan.
The fans can vote for Zimmerman only via Twitter, using hashtag #CaptainZimmerman in every tweet that they send. The vote has opened on Aug. 12 and will be closed on Aug. 17 at 10:59 p.m. CT. The player who receives the greatest amount of tweets and retweets will wear the captain armband, and it will be announced on Aug. 19. Zimmerman will have the opportunity to be the first Nashville SC player to be named All-Star team captain.
Walker Zimmerman was named to the 2021 MLS All-Star squad, his second appearances overall and first time as a Nashville player. The 28-year old defender has become the leader and key piece to Nashville SC, as he earned five shutouts in 10 games in the 2021 season. He also contributed to the team offensively with his three goals, including the first-ever Nashville SC goal in MLS back in 2020. Recently, he was selected to the USA Men's National Team in the 2021 CONCACAF Gold Cup.
The 2021 MLS All-Star Game will take place at the Banc of California Stadium in Los Angeles on Aug. 25. The game will feature the 2021 MLS All-Star team, going against LIGA MX All-Star team, the first time in MLS All-Star game history that it would have an inter-league match.
