NASHVILLE, TN - Nashville SC showed a dominant performance in their win against rival FC Cincinnati on Saturday night. In front of the home crowd at the Nissan Stadium, Nashville continues their home unbeaten record, and prolonged their unbeaten streak to seven games now, with four wins and three draws.
Hany Mukhtar and CJ Sapong once again displayed an offensive masterclass as they brought Nashville to a convincing win 3-0 against Cincinnati. The Boys in Gold are now sitting in second place of the Eastern Conference standings with 26 points from six wins, one loss, and eight draws.
Sapong was involved in all the goals that Nashville scored, with two goals to his own name, and he assisted one to Mukhtar. Sapong opened the scoring in the 13th minute, finishing a lovely cross from Mukhtar.
Minutes later, it was Sapong who set up a goal for Randall Leal, to double Nashville's lead. Sapong then closed the door in the second half with a perfect header past Cincinnati's goalkeeper Kenneth Vermeer from a calculated free-kick by Mukhtar, to make the score 3-0 until the final whistle.
Cincinnati FC was not without any golden chance in the game. In the first half, Brenner had the chance to score after an error by Nashville in the midfield, as he found himself in a 2-on-1 situation.
However, Taylor Washington made a brilliant chase, and stopped Brenner just inside the penalty box and took away Cincinnati's best chance to score. Nashville held Cincinnati 0 shots on target.
Nashville's season will continue on August 1, when they visit Toronto FC at the BMO Field. Fans can watch the game through a live stream at www.nashvillesc.com with the kickoff at 7:30 p.m. ET.
