NASHVILLE, TN - The Nashville Sounds failed to score any run, as they fell short 4-0 to the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp on Thursday Night at 121 Financial Ballpark. The Jumbo Shrimp take the series-opener, as this loss marks the fourth loss in a row for the Sounds.

The Sounds drew 8 walks in the game, but they can't capitalize as they stranded 10 base runners on the night. They had the chance to tie the game at the top of the 9th in a bases-loaded situation.

Matt Lipka had a double in the second inning and a single in the ninth, and Lorenzo Cain got another hit in the eighth. Lipka and Cain were the only Sounds who can get into the hit column after a dominant performance by the Jumbo Shrimps pitchers held of the Sounds to just three hits.

Jacksonville started the scoring in the fifth inning against Blaine Hardy, when Justin Twine drove home Brian Miller home for a 1-0 lead. Twine got 2 RBIs in the night, with a sacrifice fly to double the lead to 2-0.

Joe Dunand, who was presented by a bases-loaded situation, forced home a run with a walk, 3-0 on the board. Brian Miller drove in the last run of the game to complete the shutout 4-0.

Starting pitcher Blaine Hardy got the loss tonight, allowing one run in 4 1/3 innings pitched. Hardy earned his fifth loss of the season, making his personal record 3-5. The Sounds' four-game losing streak is the longest of the season, after the last time they recorded this feat on June 12-16.

The Sounds are hoping to snap out of the losing streak in game 2 of the six-game series against the Jumbo Shrimp on Wednesday, 11:05 a.m. CT. Ace starting pitcher Josh Lindblom (3-0, 1.09 ERA) will start for Nashville against Nick Neidert (3-1, 2.37 ERA) for Jacksonville.
