While Starbucks may be the biggest coffee chain in the world, there are plenty more options out there that will tickle your tastebuds!
Come along with me as I show you five must-try coffee shops this summer in and around Dallas. Get out your notes because you're gonna wanna try them all!
Summer Moon, Frisco, TX
The first stop we're headed to is Summer Moon in Frisco. Summer Moon originated in Austin, TX, by a family in the hill country. They set themselves apart with their deliciously sweet and secret moon milk recipe. Their espresso is wood-fired and pairs perfectly with their creamy moon milk. You can even order moon milk to go!
For starters, when you go there, you can try out the:
- Wintermoon latte (iced)
- Summermoon latte (hot)
These are all classics and fan favorites, so you won't be disappointed!
Mudleaf, Plano, TX
Our next stop leads us to Mudleaf in Plano. While at the start, Mudleaf exclusively catered their yummy coffee to events, you can now come visit their store in person! When you walk in, you are greeted with a spacious layout that boasts modern boho vibes. There are many places to set up shop, including a private meeting room, barstools, and cozy couches next to a warm fireplace.
If you want something out of the box, try their:
- Wedding Latte - espresso, almond syrup, vanilla syrup, milk
- Fresh Mint Latte - espresso, mint syrup, milk
Black Rock, Sachse, TX
This next one is new to the Dallas area, just having opened in April of this year. If you like upbeat & loud music, tasty coffee selections, and fun staff, this is the place to come. They also offer fun energy drinks that you can customize with incredible flavors like strawberry, blue raspberry, and passion fruit.
These drinks are my go-to's:
- Caramel Blondie - caramel white mocha
- Sunrise Fuel - strawberry & passion fruit energy drink
George | Coffee + Provisions, Coppell, TX
Let's hop on over to this farmhouse coffee shop tucked away in a small neighborhood. It's big and beautiful, with a spacious patio out front to enjoy your coffee and Instagrammable french toast. Inside, find a seat tucked away near the big bright windows to study or next to the fireplace.
Their menu is simple but intriguing. I recommend trying their:
- Salted Caramel Latte
- Honey & Vanilla Latte
- Madagascar Vanilla Latte
Merit Coffee Co., Deep Ellum, TX
Our last stop on today's coffee tour is situated in downtown Dallas in Deep Ellum. Deep Ellum is known for its funky, fun vibes, and you can bet that Merit Coffee lives up to that! Step inside, and you're introduced to a mid-century modern space. Their mission is to provide nothing short of sustainably sourced, roasted, and brewed coffee. If you're looking for quality, this is where to find it!
Especially on a hot summer day, try their:
- Affogato - espresso poured over vanilla ice cream
- Iced coffee
