Tampa, Florida – U.S. District Judge Steven Merryday has handed down a significant seven-year and three-month federal prison sentence to Uriel Rosales Carvajal, a 34-year-old resident of Polk County. The sentencing follows Carvajal's guilty plea on August 9, 2023, for charges related to conspiracy to distribute and possession with the intent to distribute cocaine and methamphetamine.

According to court documents, Carvajal played a pivotal role in a drug trafficking conspiracy operating within the Middle District of Florida. The evidence presented revealed his involvement in a transaction that took place on June 13, 2022. Acting under the direction of a co-conspirator, Carvajal provided a sample of cocaine to an undercover officer at a gas station in Plant City.

Law enforcement authorities swiftly moved in on Carvajal later that day, leading to his apprehension. During the arrest, authorities discovered a substantial amount of illicit substances and related paraphernalia in his possession. Carvajal was found with almost one kilogram of cocaine, a box designed for a cellphone containing approximately 135 grams of methamphetamine, plastic baggies, and a digital scale.
