Patriots trade Sony Michel to the Rams
The New England Patriots have parted ways with their 2018 first round draft, running back Sony Michel to the LA Rams. Adam Schefter was the first to break the news early this morning. Jeff Howe reported later that the Rams sent a fifth and sixth round pick to the Patriots for Michel. Michel had a fantastic rookie season, he became the catalyst of the offense in the postseason, scoring the only touchdown in Super Bowl 53. Michel began to fall out of favour amongst the Patriots fan base in 2019, and in 2020 Damien Harris established himself as New England’s RB1. Michel appears to be the healthiest he’s been since entering the league, and after two solid preseason performances, perhaps Bill Belichick believes this was the highest his trade value would be. New England still has Damien Harris, Rahmondre Stevenson, JJ Taylor, James White, and Brandon Bolden on the roster.
