Convenience store chain 7-Eleven is adding sit-down restaurants to some of its stores in Colorado. Texas-based Laredo Taco Company already has opened inside a 7-Eleven in Centennial. Locations in Central Park, Brighton, and Federal Heights in Denver will open soon.

The store inside the 7-Eleven at 7260 E. 36th Ave. in Denver is set to open in December, according to its Google listing. Construction currently is underway inside the store. A clerk confirmed the refurbished space will be a Laredo Taco Company.

The store at 9590 Federal Boulevard in Federal Heights is set to open Nov. 26, according to its Google listing. A store at 3083 Brighton Blvd. in Denver also is set to open this month, according to the Google listing.

A Lakewood store at 290 S. Pierce has opened inside a Home Depot, according to its Google listing.

Laredo Taco Company, the convenience retailer's quick-serve Mexican food restaurant, is famous for its tacos served on warm flour tortillas made from scratch in on-site kitchens each day,” according to a PR Newswire news release. “Tacos and meals include specialties not always seen in Mexican fast-food chains, such as chorizo, carne asada, carnitas, breakfast tacos made with hand-cracked eggs, and the newest item on the menu, protein-packed bowls. Each restaurant also has a salsa bar where customers can spice up their meal, including a wide selection of on-site, daily prepared salsas and pico de gallo.”

Centennial location already open

The Centennial location is at 9355 E. Dry Creek Road. It opened in November.

“Laredo Taco Company is very popular down in Southern Texas,” Eric Cardoza wrote on a Google review. “Always make sure to get breakfast tacos when I visit. I was used to seeing $1-1.50 for a breakfast taco, it’s $2.50 here in Colorado. Still very cheap for how good they are. The thing that I love the most are the flour tortillas that they use.”

Reviewer Justin Harris, like Cardoza, gave Laredo Taco Company in Centennial five stars. The restaurant only has three reviews, and all are five stars. “These tacos are so fire,” Harris wrote. “I’ve had them two days in a row now for lunch. Reasonably priced and convenient inside of a 7-Eleven. Will definitely eat there again and will be getting some for friends and family.”

Most stores offer delivery by Door Dash. Other Colorado locations include Fort Lupton, Firestone, Platteville and Loveland.

I have been in the news business more than 30 years, spending much of my career at some of the best local newspapers in the country. Today, I report on Denver City Hall, homelessness and other topics for NewsBreak, much like I did in my twenties covering Newport Beach, Calif. for the Daily Pilot. I consider myself a lucky guy to still be doing what I love after so many years.
