Crystal Hefner has revealed she lost thousands of social media followers after cleaning up her image and removing her implants. The 35-year-old widow to Playboy mogul Hugh Hefner is currently fronting media outlets for a candid reveal, one seeing her talk about her decision to shed her racy adult image - but it came at a price.
Taking to Instagram and posting for her 3 million followers, the influencer and former Playmate of the Month shared a Christmas photo of herself in black-and-white, with a swipe right showing graphs - here, fans saw the dip in following.
Celebrating staying "true" to herself on social media, the blonde wrote: "Over five years, my account has shifted from not always safe for work posts to my REAL safe for work life. The real me. I was living for other people before, to make others happy, suffering internally in the process."
She added that certain photos grow the most followers - "In short, sex sells. I don’t know whether I felt empowered by dressing scantily clad, showing cleavage, etc …or if I just felt it was expected of me or what," she continued, also stating that she can now "confidently and 100% proudly say, modesty is what empowers me these days, and because it feels so much better internally, it will probably be this way for the rest of my life."
The San Diego, CA-born star continued: "I removed everything fake from my body and deleted all my old photos. I am more authentic, vulnerable and feel that I belong more to myself. I am mine."
Crystal, remaining married to Hefner until his death in 2017, then told her followers that she saw " saw followers drop by the thousands every day (I use socialblade.com to check, you can type in any username and see for yourself). I was in the red."
The social media sensation has, however, gained back a following amid her new-found image. In an empowering closure, she confirmed: "Now it’s in the green. Most days the count is growing." The post gained a like from "Bully" singer and model Courtney Stodden.
