Daniella Cressman

Happy Fourth of July!

It's been a rough six months in many ways, but Independence Day is a time to celebrate, despite the many complications of our history: it is the anniversary of our national independence, and that is something to be proud of!

The Freedom Fourth Independence Day Celebration will be held at the Balloon Fiesta Park. It begins at 3:30 p.m. and is 100% free.

Even though the event is free, you will have to pay for parking if you decide to drive your own vehicle.

"Although the event is free, vehicle parking will cost $10, which can be paid in advance at Only cash will be accepted on-site for parking." —Albuquerque Journal Staff Report

That being said, you can get a free ride using some alternative forms of transportation today.

"Attendees can also use free park-and-ride service to the park from Coronado and Cottonwood shopping centers and the return trip. Free bike valet service will be offered for those who choose to pedal to the event. For text alerts on weather delays and Freedom 4th event updates, text FREEDOM4 to 78015." —Albuquerque Journal Staff Report

If you have little ones, they will have plenty of activities to choose from, including:

  • Face painting
  • Rock Climbing
  • Enjoying an inflatable bounce house!

There will be a beer garden featuring some of New Mexico's finest brewskis, and plenty of food trucks offering delicious food.

A country music band by the name of Shenandoah will be headlining and local country artist Nathan Krantz will be playing as well.

If the weather allows for it, an ecstatic display of fireworks will end the evening with a bang!
