Opinion: Albuquerque Teen Launches Popup Aimed at Preserving the Planet

Daniella Cressman

I think most of us want to preserve the planet and some of us are simply unsure of just how to go about it: Recycling can be challenging for a lot of people who lead busy lives because it is just so inconvenient.

Now, Gabrielle Parrulli is making a difference with her popup called Gabrielle's Greenery!

“I’ve just I’ve wanted to do this for years...There’s a lot of thoughts that I’ve had into doing this. I’ve always loved business. I got into environmental science in sixth grade and fell in love with the idea of one person can help change the world. And we can help all together. We just make it easy for each other and that’s part of my mission was to make it convenient.” —Gabrielle Parrulli

This sounds like a lovely place for the residents of Albuquerque, New Mexico to visit: The products on offer are not only great for the planet but less harmful for the consumers than many of their conventional counterparts.

Additionally, Gabrielle is a courageous and bright adolescent who wants to make the most of her summer and promote positive change in the world. She's been told by some that she is too young, but she is not going to let that stop her!

“You know, (it’s) the last years of my childhood and I just didn’t do anything cool. So I’m like, I need something to hold on to, to remember. And I’ve always told people I want to do business, and they kind of would make it sound like I have to wait till I’m an adult. So that was another thing is I’m like, no, I don’t have to, I can do this now. Let me just try and see how far it goes.” —Gabrielle Parrulli

Right now, Gabrielle is operating her popup from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Saturday, but she is planning to extend these hours in the near future. You can learn more by visiting https://www.gabriellesgreeneryrefillery.com/.
