Coffee is the breakfast of champions for many folks all over the world. For some, nothing beats the smell of freshly brewed coffee first thing in the morning, and we’re right there with you!
A cup of coffee is amazing on its own, but if you want to spice things up a bit, here are six amazing ways to add that extra kick to your cuppa!
Cocoa powder
You can add some to your coffee grounds before brewing, and get ready for a chocolate treat like no other! Just the smell of this roasted chocolate coffee brewing can attract the most discerning coffee drinker in your home! Top it off with some milk and sugar and enjoy! Hint: this is a great surprise for your sweetheart on Valentine’s Day morning.
Flavored syrup
No, this is not referring to the made for coffee syrups. Try chocolate, strawberry, and/or caramel syrups (the kind you buy to go in milk). A spin-off of this is to try the flavored powders; you may still have to add some sugar and milk as well.
Brown sugar
This is a little bit different than your regular sugar as far as flavor. It sweetens like white sugar; only it gives your coffee a bit of a maple flavor. Even if you do not enjoy milk in your coffee normally, try it along with the brown sugar. You may just find a new favorite flavor here!
Pumpkin spice
This little gem can be found in the spices and seasonings section at your grocery store year-round. Add a little bit to your brewed coffee and a little sugar and voila! You have a great cup of fall-flavored coffee. This is a nice treat when the leaves start changing colors, and the weather turns cool.
Peppermint candy
Simple but yummy. Take a peppermint candy and drop it in your cup and let it slowly dissolve as you drink your coffee. If you are alone, or everyone present likes peppermint, drop two or three candies in your pot and let them slowly melt while the coffee is brewing. Not only does it taste good, but it will also make your kitchen smell heavenly!
Marshmallow creme
Just a dollop can add sweet, creamy goodness. This is a nice treat for the holidays when topped off with some whipped cream and chocolate sprinkles/flakes.
There are so many ways to dress up your coffee. Most of the above suggestions may not be suitable for your eye-opening cup first thing in the morning, but they can be excellent for after dinner brews or for holiday parties. Then again, for the adventurous at heart, any of these can be just what you are looking for in that early morning caffeine fix.
