All The Reasons You Should Become a Virtual Assistant

If you’re looking for a legitimate way to work from home and make money online, one of the top careers to get your foot in at the moment is becoming a virtual assistant.

A VA, if you’re unfamiliar with the term, stands for “virtual assistant” and by becoming one, you’ll basically be taking on varied tasks remotely and getting paid for it from the comfort of your home.

If you’re thinking of becoming a VA or would like to learn more about this new career, here are some of the reasons becoming a virtual assistant rocks!

You can work from home / travel

One of the biggest pros of being a virtual assistant is that, well, you’re virtual, which means you can work from home or even travel the world and take your job with you.

Your clients are all managed online, so as long as you have your computer with you and a stable internet connection, you can practically work from anywhere. Yep, this including cute coffee shops around the world, or hey, maybe you could even start using those Pinterest boards you’ve been working on for years to create your dream home office.

It never gets boring

Being a virtual assistant means you’ll be taking on different tasks every day. You’re in full control of the type of work you want to do.

For example, a common virtual assistant task is managing e-mails, but if that’s not your jam, that’s totally cool! Instead, you can offer services that are more akin to your interests, like managing Pinterest accounts, scheduling social media, or transcribing.

Moreover, you can get a varied base of clients, which means you’ll always be working on different things.

There's demand

Virtual assistance is a growing industry.

I mean, seriously – companies are realizing it’s infinitely better to outsource tasks that someone can easily complete at home than hiring someone full-time.

A virtual assistant is in high demand, and it will only grow in the upcoming years.

Low requirements to get started

You don’t need years of experience or a degree to become a virtual assistant. In fact, you probably already have a ton of skills that can help you get started – can you type? Are you good at organizing? Can you use Excel? Are you able to use Canva to create Pinterest graphics?

Make a list of your skills and write them down. You probably have what it takes and there’s a client out there who’s looking for just those skills!

You're in charge of your schedule

Aside from being able to work from home, there are also many other amazing benefits to becoming a VA, and one of them is that you’re in complete charge of your schedule.

As long as you get the work done in a timely matter, it doesn’t really matter if you prefer to get your work done in the morning after a yoga class or if you’re a night owl and would rather take care of your to-do list in the evenings.

Moreover, you’re in charge of your schedule and in full control of who you work with and what projects you’re keen to take on.

Lots of ways to learn

I like to think of my work as a VA as a sort of paid internship.

Seriously, you can learn a ton about an industry by doing virtual assistant work! For example, if your goal is to create a successful blog, you can become an established blogger’s virtual assistant.

Not only will you learn all the ins and outs of blogging, but you can also use your free time to use those acquired skills and implement them on your own blog

So there you have it! If you’re looking for a full-time career or a way to work from home part-time while you work on a business, becoming a virtual assistant is a great way to do just that!

The journey has been full of highs and lows of all sorts – of grand adventures, heartbreak, self-discovery, screw ups, and lonely roads. I wouldn’t change any of it. While I’m no longer traveling full-time anymore and I am now based in the wonderland that is Mexico City, you’re more likely to find me in some far-off place than at home. I’m a firm believer in the law of attraction, and I hope my stories inspire you to take the leap and follow your dreams!
