One of the most prominent conservatives in the country and a frequent critic of former President Donald Trump is reportedly considering a bid for the White House in 2024, adding yet another possible candidate to a field that has gotten more crowded with each passing week.

Her entry to the race would add yet another candidate looking to jumpstart a campaign in the race for 2024, however, her entry would likely be in the form of a third-party candidacy, something that would come as an intriguing twist to the election and may draw some more moderate Republicans away from the nominee.

Cheney Looking at Possible Bid

Former congresswoman Liz Cheney (R-Wyo) is reportedly considering a bid for the Oval Office in 2024, according to the longtime Republican and prominent conservative herself, speaking at the Mackinac Policy Conference this week, but adds that her main focus remains working to ensure that Trump does not return to the presidency.

“I’m not making any announcements today,” she said at the conference, adding, “I am really focused on making sure that Donald Trump isn’t anywhere close to the Oval Office.”

Cheney has been a vocal critic of Trump, especially since the events of January 6th, 2021, something that former Representative Cheney has repeatedly focused on as a clear reason Trump should not be allowed back into the Oval Office.

She was also on the House select committee charged with investigating January 6th, where she had repeatedly condemned Trump's involvement in the attack on the Capitol.

Cheney Unlikely to Run as Republican

Liz Cheney has previously stated that she would not be likely to run as a Republican were she to enter a race for the White House, prompting questions as to whether or not she would then be launching a third-party bid, an option that would certainly pose an interesting twist to the campaign, especially given Cheney's track record against Trump.
