Atkinson County officials have recovered a boat connected to a series of thefts earlier this year. Three suspects have been officially charged and arrested, while one suspect tied to the case remains at large.
A few months ago, Atkinson County officials reported that several boats and trailers had been stolen from citizens throughout the county, naming four suspects.
Officials stated that four individuals were observed backing into the driveways of two Atkinson County residences, hooking up the boats and trailers to their vehicle, and leaving the property.
According to officials, two boats, two cargo trailers, and two boat motors had been reported missing around the same time. The suspects, as per law enforcement, were identified after a Douglas man was able to positively identify one of the suspects as the person who sold him one of the boats.
Local investigators have actively been searching for the missing property, locating one of the trailers and a boat sometime after they were reported missing.
Earlier this month, deputies located the last missing boat in Brantley County, along with one of the motors. The boat has since made its way back to Atkinson County, leaving one motor and one cargo trailer still unrecovered.
Atkinson County officials reported in June that three suspects had already been arrested, including Jade Ladson, Tim Pafford, and Katrina Chancey. One suspect, Michael Bolden, has yet to be apprehended.
If you have any information regarding the thefts or know of Bolden's whereabouts, please contact the Atkinson County Sheriff's Office at (912) 422-3611.
