The Broxton Police Department has made an arrest in connection with the vandalism of the Barney Fife mural on an old farmhouse off Highway 441 in Broxton.

The mural, created by Dylan Ross, a local artist and Coffee County native, has been admired by countless travelers since its completion in 2016. However, earlier this month, officers announced that it had been vandalized and requested information about the responsible party.

This weekend, officers announced that an arrest had been made. According to local officials, on September 13th, 18-year-old Kayson Smalley of Broxton was apprehended and taken into custody on charges of second-degree criminal damage related to the vandalism.

As of Monday morning, Smalley remained in custody.
