ST. TAMMANY, LA - St. Tammany Parish, also known as Louisiana's Northshore, has lots of events held annually. Here is a list of all the fairs, festivals, and other events you should attend in St. Tammany.
1. Abita Springs Whole Town Garage Sale
Every year in March, the town of Abita Springs holds a garage sale and flea market on a Saturday near Easter time. You can find various second-hand treasures such as furniture, housewares, kids' clothing, vintage books, art, jewelry, and other items.
2. Great Louisiana Birdfest
The Great Louisiana Birdfest, which is hosted by the Northlake Nature Center, is held annually in April and features birding field trips and photography workshops in various locations in St. Tammany Parish. This festival is great for birding enthusiasts, where you might catch a glimpse of the rare red-cockaded woodpecker.
3. Slidell's Crawfish Cook-Off
Slidell's Crawfish Cook-Off, which is a fundraiser hosted by the Hospice Foundation of the South, is held at Fritchie Park every April, where over 50 teams compete to claim the "Best Crawfish in St. Tammany Parish" title. Pay the price of admission to attend the event and eat as many crawfish as you want.
Buskers are street musicians who perform for tips. The festival is hosted by the Town of Abita Springs and the Abita Springs Trailhead Museum and is dedicated to honoring Louisiana roots music. The 10th Abita Springs Busker Festival will be held on September 19, 2021, and will feature buskers from the Greater New Orleans area such as Washboard Chaz & the Tin Men, Bad Penny Pleasuremakers, and more.
