NEW ORLEANS, LA – New Orleans Recreation Development Commission joins hand with iHeartMedia and Ochsner to host Back to School Supplies Giveaway for 4-18 years old youth this weekend.
This annual event will be held across four locations in the city on Saturday, July 31st at 10 am until supplies last. Location includes one walk-up location and three drive-throughs to accommodate the New Orleans community and ensure safety during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Citizens can procure the school supply in person at Rosenwald Rec Center, 1120 S. Broad St. Drive-through routes are available at Behrman Park, 2529 General Meyers Ave. for the Westbank area, Joe W. Brown Park, 5601 Read Blvd. for the east, and Milne Rec Center, 5420 Franklin Ave. for the Gentilly area.
Kids and families can pick up supplies at Behrman Park by entering and exiting at General Meyers Eastbound. To get supplies at Joe W.Brown Park, enter on Read Blvd. across from New Orleans Hospital and exit on Read Blvd. next to the police station. Meanwhile, enter at Filmore avenue parking lot and exit on Franklin avenue to pick up at Milne Rec Center.
In addition to providing school supplies, this giveaway event also offers partnership information and fall programming at NORD for the 2021-2022 school year. It is free to attend and registration is not required. However, kids must receive the school supplies by themselves and it is limited to one kit per child.
Children can look forward to supplies such as a backpack, folder, college ruled paper, spiral notebook, composition notebook, Crayola color pencils, blue ink pens, and yellow highlighter included in the kits.
