5 must try foods at Universal Mardi Gras Carnaval of Flavors

Cristine Struble

Before Universal Mardi Gras Carnaval of Flavors ends on April 11, these delectable menu items are must try foods. Whether it is your first visit or you have a food craving that needs to be satisfied again, Universal Orlando is delivering some amazing flavors. While the classic song might say, feet don’t fail me now, the reality is stomach don’t fail me now with over 100 food and beverages to sample around Universal Orlando resort.

While this year’s Univeral Mardi Gras event is slightly different from year’s past, the food offerings are even more exciting. With stops located throughout Universal Studios, a guest can stroll and savor the delectable treats.

The various food offerings celebrate carnaval foods from across the globe. While many people think of New Orleans Mardi Gras celebrations, the reality is that many countries have Mardi Grad celebrations. From the Caribbean to Europe, there is a food and beverage that will satisfy every craving.

These are 5 must try foods at Universal Mardi Gras Carnaval of Flavors.

Arepas – Colombia

Previously, Universal Studios had an arepas food truck that was very well received. Those dishes have returned for the food festival. From the carnitas to chicken to cheese, all of the options are delicious. Also, consider grabbing a cocktail to enjoy with that bite. One word of caution, that hand-held arepas can be a little hot to handle. Make sure to grab some extra napkins.

Stuffed Coxinha – Brazil

These tiny little bites of crispy pulled chicken fritters are a must try. Perfectly fried, the bite-sized fritters are bursting with flavor. Plus, the pineapple and strawberry caipirinha is the sweet cocktail to enjoy with them. On a warm spring day, it is a delightful snack to enjoy while taking a break from the rides.

New Orleans Bloody Mary Bar

Even though some people might want to grab a Duff Beef, the New Orleans Bloody Mary Bar offers a cocktail and a snack in one. The cocktail comes with garnishes of shrimp, jambalaya fritters and some spicy green beans. Your regular brunch cocktail will look boring in comparison.

Poached Pear Crème Brulee Crepe – France

Crepes have been a trending food at Universal Orlando. For Mardi Gras Carnaval of Flavors, the Poached Pear Crème Brulee Crepe is a must try. The perfectly poached pear is surrounded by vanilla pastry cream and caramel is sweet, yet not overly sweet. Whether you prefer a glass of rose or a red wine, this crepe is a must try.

Vegan Brat with Beer Braised Onions

While Oktoberfest is often the big German food celebration, Mardi Gras is a reason to enjoy some tasty German favorites. This vegan option shows that plant-based food can be just as flavorful as the meat options. Why not grab the Aecht Schlenkerla Marzen Rauchbier, a smoked Marzen Oktoberfest style lager and say prost.

These food ideas are just a few of the numerous menu options available during the Universal Orlando Mardi Gras event. Why not skip the Butterbeer for one time and enjoy these Carnaval of Flavors.
