It’s hard to think of a happier thing than a wedding. It serves as the joining together of two lives between people who want to be together. It’s a symbolic union of two individuals committing themselves to each other forever. Unfortunately, weddings don’t always have a happy ending.

Oklahoma singer-songwriter, Jake Flint, and his bride, Brenda, decided to tie the knot. On Saturday, they traveled to a remote home where they got married, and they didn’t let the wet weather get them down.

On Sunday morning, word spread that Flint had passed away in his sleep. Mike Hosty, the one-man band that Flint had hired to play his wedding, said “[Flint] was a singer-songwriter, through and through, and not just a big personality, a big heart, and (he’d) bend over backward to do anything for you…I really just like remembering that happy moment of seeing them being married…but I really feel for Brenda.”

Flint was a staple in the Oklahoma Red Dirt music scene, and the music community is still reeling from the tragic loss. Flint’s publicist and friend, Clif Doyal, said “He was not only a client, but he was also a dear friend…he was loved by everybody. He made everybody laugh, and he made everybody feel welcome. He was an ambassador for Oklahoma Red Dirt music.”

Oklahoma’s Red Dirt music community -- as well as all of Flint’s friends and family -- feel a deep sense of loss because of this unforeseen tragedy.

Flint’s cause of death is yet to be established.
