KATY, TX – Katy ISD reached a monumental milestone with the enrollment of its 90,000th student this week. The student, was surprised in her classroom by her family, Superintendent Ken Gregorski and other District officials. The surprise announcement also included balloons, several Katy ISD gifts and a “90,000th student” t-shirt that she wore proudly.
“When we decided to move to Texas, friends of ours told us that Katy ISD was a great school district and it had the best schools, so that’s one of the reasons why we are here,” said Asma Alhabahbeh, Jenna’s mother.
When Jenna’s family moved to Texas from New Jersey, enrolling their daughter in Katy ISD was their top priority. As the fifth-largest and one of the fastest-growing school districts in the State of Texas, Katy ISD remains a leader in educational excellence. Its outstanding academic record, award-winning educators and staff members, as well as its commitment to providing unparalleled learning experiences continues to attract families from across the nation.
“We can’t celebrate the enrollment of our 90,000th student without also recognizing the immense growth we’re experiencing,” said Katy ISD Superintendent Ken Gregorski. “As families continue to move to the area, it’s important that Katy ISD be prepared to serve them. Thanks to our voter-approved 2021 Bond, the District is able to provide the facilities and resources needed to prepare all students for the future,” added Gregorski.
The District’s northwest quadrant continues to experience robust growth, including large neighborhoods and commercial developments. Katy ISD recently opened its newest junior high school, Haskett Junior High, in the area and is expected to add three additional elementary schools, one junior high, one high school and a transportation and maintenance facility in the next few years.
