KATY, TX – Each year the Katy Independent School District recognizes its top employees for their contributions to student instruction and support services. The recognitions include various categories ranging from teaching and learning to District operations.

"These individuals go above and beyond to demonstrate leadership and dedication to Katy ISD students, staff and the community," said superintendent Ken Gregorski.

Top honors include the elementary and secondary Principals of the Year, Teachers of the Year and Rookie Teachers of the Year.
Districtwide Principals of the Year:
Kelly Ricks – Wolman Elementary School
Dr. Melinda Stone – Taylor High School
Districtwide Teachers of the Year:
Tasha McDonald – Rylander Elementary School
Daxus Nesossi – Paetow High School
Districtwide Rookie Teachers of the Year:
Hailey Burgower – Memorial Parkway Elementary School
John Shaw – Seven Lakes Junior High School

“These educators were selected by their peers and community for making meaningful contributions in their classrooms and campuses,” said Gregorski.

“They are committed to personal and professional growth, and have demonstrated a dedication to inspiring students and colleagues to continually grow and learn,” added Gregorski.

All Katy ISD “Of the Year” employees will be recognized at a Districtwide ceremony on April 21.

Additionally, the Principals of the Year, along with campus administrators from school districts in the surrounding area, will be recognized at the Region 4 Principal Recognition Ceremony on Thursday, April 7 at Westin Oaks Hotel in the Galleria.

Katy ISD recently celebrated having 90,000 students enrolled. For more than 10 yeas it has been one of the fastest growing school districts in Texas.
