I love scavenger hunts. When you throw in an elf, opportunities to win prizes, and an ice skating rink, I'm especially motivated.

Starting today, December 8, through December 18, Downtown Colorado Springs is hosting an Elf on the Shelf scavenger hunt. There will be twenty elves hidden in downtown shops, restaurants, and art galleries. Find them, and you could be one of two winners of a $50 Downtown Colorado Springs gift card.

To play, visit the participating businesses (listed below) and find the hidden elves. They are sneaky and can be hard to locate, so make sure to look in unexpected places.

Each elf has a name. When you find it, jot down the name next to the business where you found it. You can print the scavenger hunt card here or pick one up at participating locations.

When you find twelve of the elves, you have earned one entry. If you find all twenty, you will get a second entry. You can drop off your completed card at any of the participating locations.

The elves are hiding here:

  1. Bingo Burger
  2. Cacao Chemistry
  3. Escape Velocity
  4. Gallery 113
  5. Good Eye
  6. Hooked on Books
  7. Jack Quinn's
  8. Local Honey Co
  9. Maggie M. Boutique
  10. Mountain Chalet
  11. Mountain Standard Goods
  12. My Colorado Store
  13. Novis Mortem Collection
  14. Pikes Peak Lemonade
  15. Rocky Mountain Soap Market
  16. Runners Roost
  17. Savory Spice Shop
  18. Sparrow Hawk Cookware
  19. The Perk
  20. Title Nine

While you search for the elves, take a moment to admire the downtown holiday window displays and then vote for your favorite. There will be a QR code near the decorated window to scan and register your vote.

If you are doing this scavenger hunt on Friday, December 10, consider taking a break from that activity to skate at Acacia Park.

It is "Glownight with UC Health" from 7 - 9 that evening, and the first 100 participants will receive a complimentary glow kit with a glow stick and other goodies.

It is $10 to skate at the park, and this price includes ice skates. Children 4 and under are free with a paying adult. The rink only accepts credit cards (no cash), and you can purchase tickets at the time of the skating session.

Support local and small businesses by shopping downtown and test your luck at finding the hidden elves.
