Are you looking for a healthy, fun way to start the Thanksgiving festivities? If so, I have a great idea for you!
The YMCA is hosting their 24th Annual Turkey Trot at the Colorado Springs Briargate location (4025 Family Place) tomorrow, 25 November, on Thanksgiving Day.
This tradition is a fun way to spend time with your family while also supporting the community. The funds raised from this race provide scholarships to local families so they can enjoy the amazing benefits of the YMCA.
Registration is still open for this event.
Tomorrow, starting at 0815, there is a Tiny Tot Fun Run for children ages twelve and younger. This event is free.
At 0900, the Turkey Trot 5K begins. The pre-race day registration fee for adults ages 18 and older is $35, and kid's pricing (ages 17 and younger) is $25. These prices are only good through today (Wednesday, 24 November).
You are welcome to run with a “furry friend” on a leash for an extra $15 (this is in addition to a paid adult registration). Your registered dog will receive a Turkey Trot bandana and a treat. There will be specific waves of the race for people running with their furry friends, so come exercise your dog and yourself at this fun community event.
Maybe you are not sure yet if you want to run tomorrow. No worries. If you wake up in the morning and feel the urge to run, there will be on-site registration from 0630 - 0900, but a race T-shirt is not guaranteed. Also, the prices increase to $50 for adults and $35 for kids, but it all goes to a good cause!

Why Should You Support the YMCA?
The YMCA is the nation's leading non-profit organization. It has been serving community members since 1851 when it first opened its doors in Boston.
According to their website, “The Y is committed to empowering people to reach their full potential, to improving well-being, inspiring action, strengthening communities & ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to become healthier, more confident, connected and secure. “
Consider supporting this valuable community resource by participating in this year’s Turkey Trot. I’ll see you there!
