Old Colorado City is a fascinating treasure rich in history located on the west side of Colorado Springs. If you have never been there, today, October 30th, is a great day to visit.

From 12 pm to 5 pm, the downtown area will be celebrating "Fallidays!"

Bancroft Park

There will be two free concerts at Bancroft Park ( 2408 W. Colorado Avenue, Colorado Springs). From noon to 2 pm, Roma Ransom will be performing. This duo describes their music as "eclectic bohemian world psych folk" on their Facebook page. A very talented team, and you can hear a clip of their music here.

From 3 pm - 5 pm, CountyWide will be on stage. This group plays bluegrass mixed with country & rock -n-roll. A band you won't want to miss!

While enjoying the music, check out Dr. James Garvin's cabin which is located in the park. It is one of the earliest structures in (Old) Colorado City. There are information placards in front of the cabin explaining its history. It was built in 1859 and has been used for a variety of purposes including a pioneer county office building, a Chinese laundry with an opium den in the basement, and an antique shop.

Although I don't typically recommend checking out a venue's bathrooms, the facilities at Bancroft Park are award-winning. They are self-cleaning restrooms! These facilities won the 2020 America's Best Restroom contest. An interesting claim to fame in this historic town.

Street Activities

In addition to the live music, there will be street activities throughout Old Colorado City including a balloon artist, stilt walker, and character artist. There will also be vendors and sidewalk sales. Please consider supporting the small businesses by shopping local this year. Our community depends on it.

You can walk along Colorado Avenue and admire the amazing scarecrows created by the different businesses. "Scarecrow Days" is an Old Colorado City tradition that my family has been enjoying for years. Don't forget to vote for your favorite one.

I'll see you there!
