To paraphrase Paul Revere, "The scooters are coming, the scooters are coming!"

With an anticipated start date of 06 October 2021, the City of Colorado Springs will begin a one-year pilot program offering electric scooters for rent in the downtown area. According to the Downtown Partnership of Colorado Springs, the city has partnered with Lime and VEO, two e-scooter companies.

There will be designated parking areas for the scooters, dismount zones (with posted signage), and restricted riding in areas with heavy pedestrian traffic.

Electric scooters are not allowed on the Colorado College campus or the sidewalks in the busy downtown core. They will automatically stop working in the "No Ride" areas. Go here for a map of the ride zones and scooter parking hubs.

Electric scooters are a convenient, environmentally friendly way to navigate the busy downtown streets. They offer a low-intensity workout (leg and core muscles) combined with fresh air and fun.

In addition to the upcoming e-scooters, the downtown area of Colorado Springs also offers electric bikes for rent. PikeRide has several conveniently located hubs downtown, and according to their website, they are offering half-off the 24-hour pass every Friday in October. The regularly priced 24-hour pass is $20, so this is a great bargain.

You can test out both an e-bike and an e-scooter while exploring the fabulous outdoor art in downtown Colorado Springs. See you on the streets!
