STATESVILLE, NC — Iredell Memorial Hospital has recently ranked by U.S. News & World Report’s 2021-22 Best Hospitals as "High Performing" for its patients care within the categories of heart failure, heart attack, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease or COPD.
This rating is determined based on indicators related to patient care such as risk-adjusted survival, discharge rate, quality of care, etc. These indicators are used to assess hospitals with high, average, or below-average performance. U.S. News categorizes this ranking according to RTI International, a research organization from Research Triangle Park, North Carolina.
These ratings can help doctors and patients determine the best place to receive certain specific treatments based on the patients' condition.
Iredell Memorial’s COPD specialty received a high ranking based on the use of noninvasive breathing aids to provide respiratory support to patients. In addition, Iredell also assigns more nurses for patients, thus providing better outcomes for COPD patients.
Heart attack and heart failure specialties were recognized for having an intensive care unit (ICU) staffed by a trained specialist for heart patients. Iredell was also known for discharging patients directly to their homes for a comfortable and faster recovery.
“We are very pleased with the high performing rankings that we have achieved in several specialties, as these are some of the most significant diagnoses that we encounter here,” said John Green, President and CEO of Iredell Health System. “Our goal is to strive for continued high performing status in these specialties and many more as we proudly work to take care of our community’s healthcare needs.”
As the only hospital in Iredell County to have earned the "High Performing" ranking, Iredell Memorial Hospital is committed to continuing the quality of its services for all residents of Iredell County and beyond.
