The Pikes Peak Library District partners with the Switchbacks to offer discounted tickets and themed cards

(Colorado Springs, CO) Soccer is one of the most popular sports in the world, and in 2015, Colorado Springs became home to a professional soccer team.

The Switchbacks, members of the United Soccer League (USL), play at Weidner Field, an 8,000-seat soccer stadium south of downtown. The impressive facility is a fantastic place to watch a match, and the experience is even better with discounted tickets.

On Friday, June 2nd, the Pikes Peak Library District (PPLD) is partnering with the Switchbacks to offer special $15 game tickets to library cardholders. The tickets can be purchased at the gate on the night of the match or in advance at the box office for the best seat selection.

Ticket buyers must have their library card or card number to receive the discounted price.

The library will also offer special limited-edition Ziggy (the Switchbacks mascot) library cards for children starting June 1st at all PPLD branches while supplies last, or kids can register for a card during the Switchbacks game on June 2nd in the Kid's Zone.

For those who can't make the June match, there will be another PPLD night with the Switchbacks on July 14th.

The Pikes Peak Library District is a fantastic local resource. In addition to discounted soccer tickets, the library system has an impressive collection of books, movies, music, board games, and programming.

A library card also provides free admission to museums and other venues through the Pikes Peak Cultural Pass, a collaboration between PPLD and local organizations. Two new sites were recently added to the pass: the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Museum and the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Training Center. Learn more about the program here.

Get your library card and catch an exciting soccer match at Weidner Field in June or July. Then, swing by one of the many local library branches and find out what else they have to offer this summer. It is worth the trip!
