This weekend is going to the dogs!
On Saturday, February 4th, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., friendly, affectionate, and sweet golden retrievers will be the guests of honor in Golden, Colorado.
The historic town is hosting its annual "Goldens in Golden," and all friendly, well-behaved, leashed golden retrievers are welcome!
The meet and greet for pups and owners will start at 11:00 a.m. at Parfet Park near the Golden Visitor Center (1010 Washington Avenue). There will be "pup cup" treats, professional photo opportunities, vendor booths, and free dog goodie bags.
At 11:45 a.m., dogs and owners will parade down Washington Avenue, stopping at the "Welcome to Golden" arch for a group photo.
The official "Goldens in Golden" event ends at 1:00 p.m., but there will be plenty of opportunities for more celebrating. Several downtown businesses will have special deals for you and your pup, including Gold Mine Cupcakes ("pupcakes"), Golden Goods (pup cups and dog bones), and Roots (10% discount if you bring your dog).
Golden Mill (1012 Ford Street) is hosting an after-party on their large dog-friendly patio with specials on dog-themed beers all day.
There is no cost to participate in the parade, but please RSVP so there will be enough treats and goodie bags for every dog.
The festivities are weather-dependent, but Saturday's forecast looks great. Check the "Goldens in Golden" Facebook page for any last-minute weather-related information.
This popular dog party is typically well attended, so arrive early. There are two convenient parking garages on Jackson Street between 11th and 13th Street. The first two hours are free. For directions and more information on parking, go here.
Whether you are a pup parent or just love to be around dogs, head out to Golden this Saturday for a fun-filled dog party. It's the place to be!
