Now that Groundhog Day is behind us, it's time to turn our attention to Valentine's Day.
Valentine's Day is a holiday celebrated by millions of people worldwide, and it is a wonderful opportunity to show those we care about just how much they mean to us.
Many traditions have emerged to mark this occasion, from exchanging gifts and cards to planning special date nights and romantic meals. Regardless of the specific customs and rituals, the underlying message of Valentine's Day remains the same: to express love, appreciation, and affection for those important people in our lives.
If you are looking for a unique and memorable way to celebrate the holiday this year, look no further than Loveland, Colorado.
Loveland, located about 45 miles north of Denver, is known as the "Sweetheart City" and the town has a postmark created specifically for Valentine's Day.
People from around the world send thousands of cards to Loveland every year for the annual collectible postmark.
To participate in this time-honored tradition, buy a Valentine's Day card and write a message to your loved one. Address and stamp the envelope, put the card in a larger First-Class envelope, and mail it to the Loveland post office. The address is: Postmaster - Attention Valentines, 446 E. 29th Street, Loveland, CO 80538-9998
The Loveland post office will open the outer envelope, hand-stamp the enclosed Valentine's Day card with the "Sweetheart City's" official Valentine's Day postal mark, and mail it to your special someone.
Cards with a mailing address within the Continental United States must arrive at the Loveland post office by February 7th, and the deadline is February 9th for cards going to a Colorado address.
You can also buy a blank or personalized Valentine's Day card online from the Loveland Chamber of Commerce. The cost is $10 and includes the card, inscribing, processing, and postage. The card will have the collectible 2023 Valentine's Day cancellation stamp and cachet. Go here to order.
Surprise a significant other, family member, or close friend this Valentine's Day by sending a special card from the "Sweetheart City."
