(Colorado Springs, CO) Colorado Springs has been a bit windy the last few days. This weather is not great for hats or umbrellas, but it is perfect for kites. Given the windy conditions, I can only assume that mother nature is practicing for the big event this weekend - the first annual Kite and Wind Festival.
On Saturday, June 18th, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., the skies above Falcon Regional Park will be filled with kites. Everyone is invited to join the fun.
Bring a kite from home or make one at the event to add your own splash of color to the sky. This free festival is open to all ages and will have music, crafts, games, contests, and plenty of open space for kite flying.
Festival attendees can make a wind-propelled craft project and talk with the Fox21 Storm Team about the weather in the Pikes Peak Region. Pixie Sparkles will be at the park to add colorful paint and glitter to faces, and Kona Shaved Ice will be serving tasty treats.
Those with kite-flying skills can sign-up to compete in contests for bragging rights.
This Saturday, head out to the park to enjoy beautiful weather and a color-filled sky. You will meet new people and get plenty of exercise chasing kites. It is a great way to spend a day.
