Food Trucks, Tulips, Lunar Eclipse, and More this Weekend in Colorado Springs

(Colorado Springs, CO) There is something for everyone happening this weekend in and around Colorado Springs.

Tulip Festival

Colorado Kids Ranch is hosting a Tulip Festival. Starting Thursday (May 12) through Sunday (May 15), you are invited to smell, admire, photograph, and pick tulips.

Over 30,000 tulips are in bloom which provides a perfect backdrop for photos. In addition to the flowers, there will be plenty of family-friendly activities such as a jumping pillow, large tube swing, hayrides, animal petting area, pony rides, and Tractor Cow Train rides to name a few.

Admission is $7 per person, and children four and under are free. The tulips are sold separately. The price is $2 for an individual flower, 6 tulips for $10, and 12 for $15.

719 Battle of the Food Trucks

If you are a fan of food trucks, you don't want to miss this event on Sunday, May 15th, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Over thirty food trucks from the local area will compete for the title of Best Food Truck in Colorado Springs.

The trucks will be serving sample sizes of their favorite dishes hoping to earn your vote.

This family-friendly event will have live music, face painting, ax throwing, prizes, food samples, and a beer garden. It is a fundraiser for the Mt. Carmel Veterans Service Center, so come out and enjoy excellent food for a great cause.

Tickets are $30 each and include ten food truck sampling tickets, a souvenir gift, and access to the booths, games, and entertainment. You can purchase tickets here.

Lunar Eclipse at Cheyenne Mountain State Park

On Sunday, May 15th, from 8:00 p.m. to midnight, watch the various phases of the Lunar Eclipse with the Colorado Springs Astronomical Society at Cheyenne Mountain State Park. The society will have telescopes and astronomers at the east end of the Limekiln Trailhead parking lot.

The Mobile Earth & Science Observatory, a hands-on, educational science center on wheels, will also be in the parking lot for the duration of the event.

A park pass ($9 per vehicle) is required to get into Cheyenne Mountain State Park, but the event itself is free. For more details, go here.

Free Admission Day at the Fine Arts Center

The Fine Arts Center at Colorado College has free admission on Saturday, 14 May. Please note that advanced registration is required, and you can reserve the free tickets here.

Current exhibits include Art of the Southwest, O Beautiful! Shifting Landscapes of the Pikes Peak Region, Floyd D. Tunson: Hearts and Minds, Black Sound Series, Diago: The Pasts of This Afro-Cuban Present, Birds of America, and a variety of permanent collections.

The museum is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with the last admission at 3 p.m.

Scheels Free Fitness and Health Expo

The Colorado Springs Scheels store will have a Fitness and Health Expo on Saturday, May 14th, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

There will be free fitness classes including:

  • Cambio Yoga - 9:00 to 9:45 a.m.
  • Pure Barre - 10:00 to 10:45 a.m.
  • HITT with Orange Theory Fitness - 11:00 to 11:45 a.m.
  • Cyclebar Spin Class - 12:00 to 12:45 p.m.
  • 45-Minute Burn with Orange Theory Fitness - 1:00 to 1:45 p.m.
