The 94th Academy Awards was full of dramatic surprises and physical conflict, but perhaps the best moment was when Jamie Lee Curtis took the stage carrying Mac n Cheese, an adorable rescue dog available for adoption.
Curtis, holding the pup during a tribute to Betty White, said, “The greatest gift you could give Betty White is to open your heart and your home and adopt a rescue dog just like Mac n Cheese from Paw Works.”
If more people in the audience had been holding puppies that night, the award show might have gone differently for a few folks. Thankfully, the evening went well for Mac n Cheese.
On Tuesday, March 29, Paw Works, a rescue organization in California that is dedicated to finding permanent homes for unwanted shelter animals, shared the below post on Instagram. John Travolta and his son, Ben, adopted Mac n Cheese. She is one lucky dog that will now have a bed in several upscale homes.
Adopting a rescue pet is a wonderful way to honor Betty White who was a lifelong animal rights activist and volunteer with numerous animal welfare organizations. She was a board member for the Los Angeles Zoo and worked with Morris Animal Foundation, the Los Angeles SPCA, and The Seeing Eye (a guide dog school) to name a few.
I'm thrilled that Mac n Cheese has found a loving new home with the Travolta family and I hope more animals soon get a similar opportunity. If you have room in your heart and house, please consider adopting a rescue pet.
