Downtown Colorado Springs walking tours start this Saturday

(Colorado Springs, CO) The downtown area of Colorado Springs is a perfect blend of old and new. This space is packed with great restaurants, shopping, and art as well as fascinating history and architecture.

If you are interested in learning more about the downtown area, the city is offering walking tours on the first Saturday of the month.

Registered participants will meet at various coffee shops and enjoy a complimentary beverage (included in the ticket price) before beginning a one-hour-themed walking tour. The tickets are $10 each, and the first event is this Saturday, 02 April, from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Tickets are still available.

The April tour will begin at Story Coffee (120 E. Bijou Street) and is titled Making History Downtown. Learn about the history of downtown including celebrations, cultural highlights, and protests with staff from the Colorado Springs Pioneer Museum.

Additional tour options:

May 07 - Historic Architecture and Murals. Tour begins at the Wild Goose Meeting House.

Learn interesting facts and stories about the downtown area's historic architecture and contemporary murals.

June 04 - Introducing Art on the Streets. Tour begins at the Wild Goose Meeting House.

This tour introduces the 2022 Art on the Street pieces and artists. Every summer for the past 24 years, the downtown area has displayed new art pieces, including murals and sculptures, that have a temporary home in Colorado Springs for a year.

July 02 - Law and Disorder. Tour begins at the Colorado Springs Pioneer Museum.

Facilitated by museum staff, participants will learn about Prohibition in Colorado Springs, how the KKK was run out of town in the 1920s, and an infamous gun battle.

August 06 - Making History Downtown (see April tour for details). Tour begins at Story Coffee.

September 03 - Art on the Streets (see June tour for details). Tour begins at the Wild Goose Meeting House.

October 01 - Ghosts of Downtown. Tour begins at Loyal Coffee.

Local storytellers from the Pikes Peak Writers Guild will entertain you with spooky tales of historic buildings and downtown ghosts in Colorado Springs.

November 12 - Making History Downtown (see April tour for details). Tour begins at Story Coffee. Please note that the November tour meets on the second Saturday of the month.

December 03 - What's Up Downtown. Tour begins at Loyal Coffee.
