Did you say dog party? Sign me up!
On Saturday, February 5th, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, golden retrievers will be the guests of honor in Golden, Colorado. The town is hosting "Goldens in Golden", a perfect way to celebrate International Golden Retriever Day which is earlier that week.
Starting at 11:00 am, there will be a meet and greet for pups and their owners at the Golden Visitor Center located at 1010 Washington Avenue. Dogs can enjoy a free treat while their parents grab a complimentary bag of dog goodies.
At 11:45 am, Goldens and their owners will parade down Washington Avenue to the "Welcome to Golden" arch for a group photo.
The iconic arch was erected in 1949 to welcome visitors to the town. It was listed on the States Register of Historic Places in 2000. This arch is a perfect spot for a souvenir photo.
The official "Goldens in Golden" event ends at 1:00 pm, but there will be plenty of dog-friendly things to do in town including patio dining, exploring the downtown area, and hiking.
All friendly, well-behaved, leashed golden retrievers are welcome!
There is no cost to participate, but please RSVP so the organizers will have enough treats and goodie bags for everyone.
Please note that this event will be canceled for inclement weather such as snow and ice. Check the "Goldens in Golden" Facebook page for up-to-date weather-related information and to RSVP.
It is recommended that you park in one of the two parking garages on Jackson Street between 11th and 13th Street. The first two hours are free. For more specific parking information, go here.
The newest member of our family, Buzz, is a golden retriever and is looking forward to this fun gathering. He has already selected his party gear. We'll see you in Golden!
