JACKSON, Miss. — The Mississippi State men’s basketball team will get a final tuneup game before Southeastern Conference play when it takes on the Winthrop Eagles on Tuesday at 6 p.m. CT at Mississippi Coliseum. The game will not televised, but it will be carried live by the Mississippi State Radio Network.

The Bulldogs (8-3) have won back-to-back games over Furman (69-66) on Friday and over Georgia State (79-50) a week ago.

In Friday’s win, MSU turned a six-point deficit into a 69-66 comeback victory. Graduate forward Garrison Brooks led the Bulldogs with 18 points in that game. Junior guard Iverson Molinar and junior forward D.J. Jeffries added 14 points apiece, while sophomore guard Shakeel Moore finished with 12 points and a team-high six rebounds.

Molinar continues to pace MSU with a team-high 16.5 points and 4.5 assists per game and is one of two SEC players to score in double figures in every game this season. Brooks is averaging 11.4 points and 6.7 rebounds per game, while Moore is averaging 10.7 points and 2.2 steals per game and Jeffries is putting up 10.2 points and 5.3 rebounds per game.

The Eagles (6-5) are coming off a 63-61 loss at Elon on Wednesday but have won four of their last six games.

Redshirt junior forward D.J. Burns Jr. leads the team with 16.6 points and 5.1 rebounds per game. Graduate guard Patrick Good is scoring 12.7 points per game, while redshirt junior forward Cory Hightower is putting up 11.3 points and a team-high 5.6 rebounds per game.

Tuesday’s game will mark the second meeting between the Bulldogs and Eagles on the hardwood. MSU lost the first meeting 74-63 at Humphrey Coliseum on Nov. 18, 2006.
