It's a beautiful and dandy Valentine's Day in Binghamton, New York. I just took a stroll down my street that overlooks I-86 facing south with a tremendous view of the triple-cities valley. The sun shines, the sky is blue, and the "air is humming" with romance, love, and a spring-like excitement.
Binghamton and the area are home to several excellent restaurants and establishments to take your loved one to this evening. A former popular Velanetine's spot, The #5, once owned by Jim McCoy, was the place to be. The evening would turn into a celebration on the bottom floor with a great band and dancing all night.
"The 5" is no longer with us, but don't fret. There are many choices; hopefully, you've decided and booked your table by now. Around here, finding a last-minute reservation or walk-in can be challenging.
You can always try, hoping that someone doesn't show up, or the restaurant left a couple two-tops open for walk-in couples, but that is chancing it.
Some of my favorite establishments for tonight would be Remlik's, Little Venice, The Coppertop, Lost Dog Cafe & Lounge, Social On State, Alexander's, Cortese Restaurant, P. S. Restaurant, Moxie Wood Fire Grill, Food & Fire, and many more.

The Area Is Perfect for a Nice Walk
I last visited the local Oakdale Mall a long time ago, and I understand there have been a lot of changes. It used to be an excellent place, after dinner, if you aren't the partying type or need to be frugal, to walk around, look in stores, through their windows, try out test samples, people watch, and grab a treat. If that's still an option, maybe that's what you and your loved one might enjoy.
If you dare chance the outdoors tonight, try Otsiningo Park, The Rail Trail, or wherever you like to go for a bit of privacy and time with that special person in your life.
Valentine's is a holiday created by a card company initially. Today, it means a lot to all of us. It is not about money or how fancy your date is. Valentine's Day is about love, warmth, kindness, sharing, caring, and all that sweetness.
So don't sweat the "stuff," as George Carli would remind us, and concentrate on the heart. Enjoy your night, everyone.
